Softball Game Preview: Lake Highlands Wildcats vs. Berkner Rams

The Lake Highlands Wildcats will face off against the Berkner Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Highlands has given up an average of 21.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lake Highlands took on MacArthur on Friday. Lake Highlands fell just short of MacArthur by a score of 25-24.

Reagan Davies stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Cassidy Grych was another key player, getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Berkner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 18-3 to Richardson.

Heidi Shehan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Morgan Williams, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Berkner's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Lake Highlands, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything went Lake Highlands' way against Berkner in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lake Highlands made off with a 22-1 victory. Will Lake Highlands repeat their success, or does Berkner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
