Softball Game Preview: Olive Branch Conquistadors vs. Grenada Chargers

The Olive Branch Conquistadors will square off against the Grenada Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olive Branch has given up an average of 18.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Olive Branch is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game last Thursday. They lost 20-7 to Center Hill.

Alissa Jenkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 1-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Grenada didn't have quite enough to beat Long Beach on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Mary Taylour Wilbourn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Grenada saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Mattox, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Grenada's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Olive Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Olive Branch couldn't quite get it done against Grenada in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can Olive Branch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
