Basketball Recap: Donna North Comes Up Short

Donna North lost to Mercedes back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chiefs took a blow against the Tigers, falling 68-41. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mercedes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eric Lozoya, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Tigers are 2-1 when Lozoya posts ten or more boards, but 11-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Valdez, who posted 11 points.

Donna North's defeat dropped their record down to 8-23. As for Mercedes, their victory bumped their record up to 13-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Donna North will square off against Rivera at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Mercedes, they will challenge Edcouch-Elsa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Yellowjackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.28 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
