Baseball Recap: Henryetta Comes Up Short

Henryetta extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hugo Buffaloes. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffaloes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2015.

Boston Morris put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Morris wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Bowdler, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Hugo, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-17. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Hugo's side, the team relied heavily on Dakota Coulter, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Coulter is becoming a predictor of the Buffaloes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-2 (and 2-15 when he doesn't).

Henryetta wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-5 loss against Haskell on the 25th. Hugo has also already played their next matchup (against Idabel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
