Preview: Hancock Central Bulldogs vs. Georgia Military College Bulldogs

The Hancock Central Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Georgia Military College Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 28 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Hancock Central and 13 for Georgia Military College dating back to last season.

While Hancock Central couldn't quite beat Johnson County on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 25-point loss they were dealt on Thursday. Hancock Central fell just short of Johnson County by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Hancock Central has suffered yet this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tylecia Tucker, who scored seven points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaliyah Hargrove, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Hancock Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of eight games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Georgia Military College suffered their biggest loss since November 20, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Brentwood, falling 50-8. While losing is never fun, Georgia Military College can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while Brentwood is ranked 90th).

Hancock Central's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Georgia Military College, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hancock Central have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 20.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Georgia Military College struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 23.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Hancock Central was taken down by Georgia Military College 54-26 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Hancock Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
