The Bartlett Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Mart Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with 11 losses in a row dating back to last season, Bartlett finally turned things around against Bruceville-Eddy on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles , sneaking past 16-14.

Bartlett found their leader in underclassman Eric Walker II, who rushed for 195 yards while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 76 receiving yards. Walker II was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.

Bartlett's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Tristan Evans and Jordan Castellanos. Castellanos also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making seven total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Meanwhile, after only eight points in their last match, Mart made sure to put some points up on the board against Maypearl on Friday. Mart narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Maypearl 36-34.

De?Montrel Medlock was a one-man wrecking crew for Mart as he rushed for 134 yards and four touchdowns. Medlock didn't just play on offense: he also forced a fumble and made 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Bartlett's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1. As for Mart, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
