Riverdale is 9-1 against North Fort Myers since September of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders will take on the Red Knights in a tournament on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Riverdale took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Cypress Lake. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Riverdale took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-12, 25-13.
Riverdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalie Grant out in front who had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Grant has posted since back in September.
Grant wasn't the only good servers: Riverdale was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. The Raiders are a perfect 5-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, North Fort Myers made easy work of Mariner on Monday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
North Fort Myers not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Mariner between 13 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-15.
Riverdale's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for North Fort Myers, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Riverdale has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.6 aces per game. However, it's not like North Fort Myers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Riverdale was able to grind out a solid win over North Fort Myers in their previous matchup back in September, winning 3-1. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Red Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
