Basketball Game Preview: Benson Tech Astros vs. Grant Generals

Benson Tech hasn't had much luck against Grant recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Benson Tech Astros will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grant Generals at 6:30 p.m. Benson Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Grant likes a good challenge.

While Benson Tech didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Jefferson by a score of 65-52 on Friday. Given the Astros' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Democrats are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Grant's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 75-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roosevelt.

Grant's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-5. As for Benson Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Benson Tech lost to Grant at home by a decisive 77-58 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Benson Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
