Coach of the Year

The Skyhawks reached rarefied air in 2021 with a record seventh straight state title. This season, Saunders' program entered a realm of its own by winning an eighth consecutive Class B title. Led by All-American Morgan Burke, senior Ivy Leuck and a handful of underclass players, Skutt went 32-10 and used the lessons learned along with way to turn back Elkhorn North in the first five-set state final the program had faced. Skutt played a daunting schedule, mixed with great regional programs and national powers that included wins over Kentucky's Assumption, Georgia champion Buford and Bishop Gorman of Nevada.
