Football Recap: Carmel Corsairs vs. Loyola Academy Ramblers        
        
		
             Carmel was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. The  match between them and the Loyola Academy Ramblers wasn't particularly close, with the Carmel Corsairs falling  34-16. While losing is never fun, the Corsairs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings  (they are ranked 80th, while the Ramblers are ranked sixth).
 Despite the loss, Carmel still got an impressive performance from   Trae Taylor, who threw for 273 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 74 yards on only nine carries. The dominant performance gave  Taylor a new career-high in  rushing yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (97 yards to be exact)  went to  Jarren Black.
 Loyola Academy was led to victory by  Dominic Maloney and  Drew MacPherson.  Maloney threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns, while  MacPherson gained 156 total yards and two touchdowns. MacPherson was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 65 yards.
 Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Loyola Academy, their win was  their fourth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 6-2.
 Carmel will venture away from home to  square off against Fenwick  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Fenwick's defense has only allowed 13.1  points per game  this season, so Carmel's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Loyola Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  matchup,  a  21-0  defeat against Palatine on the 19th.
