Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Spring Mills

Spring Mills waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Petersburg Vikings. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2019.

Logan Penwell looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Bryce Anders was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was JP Sweeney, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Spring Mills' win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Petersburg, they dropped their record down to 9-18 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Spring Mills will challenge Morgantown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mohigans have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Petersburg, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hampshire at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
