Baseball Game Preview: Southside Seahawks vs. Ocracoke Dolphins

The Southside Seahawks will face off against the Ocracoke Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Southside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Southside lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Columbia, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. Everything went Southside's way against Columbia on Thursday as Southside made off with a 7-1 win. The Seahawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.

Luke Bullock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joshua Lewis, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Taylor Ashley was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Ocracoke had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against Pungo Christian Academy on Friday, falling 13-3.

The victory got Southside back to even at 2-2. As for Ocracoke, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Southside came out on top in a nail-biter against Ocracoke in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will Southside repeat their success, or does Ocracoke have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
