Borrego Springs waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Chris Alcaraz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. Borrego Springs is undefeated when Alcaraz posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, AB Arambula and Joey Rocha did most of the damage at the plate: Arambula scored three runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-4, while Rocha scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Arambula has become a key player for Borrego Springs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Borrego Springs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph Academy struck out ten times.

Borrego Springs' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for St. Joseph Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Coming up, Borrego Springs will venture away from home to challenge Vincent Memorial at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Rams their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will be playing at home against Army-Navy at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
