Preview: Gibbon Buffaloes vs. Silver Lake Mustangs

Gibbon is 2-7 against Silver Lake since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Gibbon Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Silver Lake Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Gibbon comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 53-11, which was the final score in Gibbon's tilt against Arcadia/Loup City on Friday. Gibbon has not had much luck with Arcadia/Loup City recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Emma Clark was Gibbon's leading scorer, having posted four points. Carla Murillo-Corona held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Silver Lake scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Elba 58-13 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Silver Lake has managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silver Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Schmidt, who scored 14 points along with six steals. Schmidt set a new season high mark in points with 14. Another player making a difference was Makenna Karr, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Gibbon bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Silver Lake, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Gibbon suffered a grim 41-18 defeat to Silver Lake in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gibbon was down 30-10.
