            Softball Recap: Roane County Yellowjackets vs. McMinn County Cherokees        
        
		
        
        
            While Roane County put up some  runs on Monday, the same  can't be said for McMinn County. The Roane County Yellowjackets came out on top against the McMinn County Cherokees by a score of  5-0. This was payback for the Yellowjackets, who suffered  a  5-4  loss the last time these two teams met.
The result came thanks to  Sailor Presley's shutout, as she gave up just two  hits and racked up 12 Ks.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Reese Newman, who  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  double.  Avery Branham was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with one  home run.
 Newman wasn't the only one working in the  home run department: Roane County  lost a few balls and  finished the game with two  home runs. That's the most  home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Roane County's win  ended  a  four-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 2-0. As for McMinn County, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the  defeat, which was their sixth straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roane County will venture away from home to  square off against Midway  at 6:35  p.m.  on March 17th. As for McMinn County, they are taking a road trip to  face off against Rhea County  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. This will  be McMinn County's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
