Pocahontas County and Pendleton County squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Pocahontas County had to settle for second. They fell 55-43 to the Pendleton County Wildcat. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Pendleton County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Townsend out in front who posted 17 points along with seven assists and four steals. Townsend has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Mongold, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals.

Pocahontas County's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Pendleton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
