Football Game Preview: La Serna Lancers vs. El Rancho Dons

La Serna has gone a perfect 10-0 against El Rancho recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lancers will challenge the Dons at 7:00 p.m. The matchup will give La Serna their first taste of in-conference action this season.

La Serna was handed a 24-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past Edison 23-21.

A big part of La Serna's victory came down to the chemistry between Grady Long and his top target Landon Armenta. Long threw for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Armenta picked up 124 receiving yards and two TDs. Those 124 receiving yards gave Armenta a new career-high.

Meanwhile, El Rancho gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They walked away with a 27-17 win over Fontana.

La Serna better keep an eye on Braylon Morrison. He was instrumental in El Rancho's win, rushing for 177 yards and two scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Morrison's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards.

El Rancho was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 234 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

El Rancho didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Isaiah Sandoval. Another thorn in Fontana's side was Jaycob Fuentes, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The victory got La Serna back to even at 3-3. As for El Rancho, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything went La Serna's way against El Rancho in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as La Serna made off with a 42-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
