Football Recap: Lakeland Christian Comes Up Short at Home Against NSU University + How To Watch

Lakeland Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the NSU University Sharks by a score of 30-27 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Sharks are ranked 312th).

Lakeland Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brody Brenneman, who threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was JD McCoy, who picked up 123 receiving yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Lakeland Christian's defense still kept up the pressure with 5.5 sacks. In that department, Joseph Bustos was the leader with 2.5.

The win got NSU University back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian will square off against Zephyrhills Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for NSU University, they will face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
