Softball Recap: Cudahy Packers vs. Greenfield Hawks

Cudahy extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 15-1 to the Greenfield Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 back in April.

On Greenfield's side, Naomi Kleszczynski and Erin Brielmaier were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kleszczynski tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Brielmaier pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. At the plate, Kleszczynski got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Brielmaier went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave Brielmaier a new career-high.

In other batting news, Calla Gbur was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Cudahy will be playing in front of their home fans against Augustine Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.67 runs per game on average), something the Packers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-4 defeat against Pius XI Catholic on the 6th.
