Baseball Recap: Mahnomen/Waubun Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mahnomen/Waubun walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal Titans 4-2. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Owen Drinkwine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 8.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Mahnomen/Waubun: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 4-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Easton Bevins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Zach Zima was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Mahnomen/Waubun now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

As of now, neither Mahnomen/Waubun nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
