Baseball Recap: Pahranagat Valley Triumphs

While Pahranagat Valley's win against Round Mountain wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Knights on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won nine in a row.

Colin Howard was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Howard wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Stewart, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another was Bronson Fiatoa, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Pahranagat Valley's victory bumped their record up to 15-7-1. As for Round Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pahranagat Valley beat Round Mountain by a score of 21-4 later that day.
