Softball Recap: Seneca East Takes a Loss

Seneca East extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Colonel Crawford Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered against the Eagles since April 11, 2016.

Seneca East saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macey Webb, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run. Ella Martin was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Colonel Crawford, their win bumped their record up to 10-11. They haven't had any issues with Seneca East recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

On Colonel Crawford's side, Peyton Rowlinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on one hit.

On the hitting side, Olivia Friley was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Saylor Holt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

While Seneca East had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
