Basketball Recap: Jermiah Oliveras' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Island Coast over Dunbar

Island Coast was the 57-45 winner over Dunbar when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Island Coast Gators fell 78-66 to the Dunbar Tigers on Tuesday.

Island Coast's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jermiah Oliveras, who posted 18 points. MarKey Pointer was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Dunbar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayant Corona led the charge by going 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points. Corona is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Garyan Burger, who had ten points and four steals.

Island Coast's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Dunbar, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.

Island Coast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-50 victory against Ida Baker on the 12th. As for Dunbar, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 53-52 defeat against Gateway on the 12th.
