Recap: Pendleton Bulldogs vs. Belton-Honea Path Bears
The Pendleton Bulldogs and the Belton-Honea Path Bears squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Pendleton Bulldogs had to settle for second. Pendleton received a tough blow as they fell 44-28 to Belton-Honea Path. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pendleton in their matchups with Belton-Honea Path: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Pendleton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luke Gray. Despite the final result, he threw for 285 yards and four touchdowns. Gray has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Abijah Webb was another key contributor, picking up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Justin Lathon went supernova for Belton-Honea Path, rushing for 177 yards and four touchdowns. Timothy Peter Bertoni did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and five extra points.
Pendleton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Belton-Honea Path, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Pendleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Belton-Honea Path will play host again and welcome Clinton, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clinton will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
