Football Game Preview: Cypress Creek Cougars vs. Cy-Fair Bobcats + How To Watch

Cypress Creek is 0-10 against Cy-Fair since September of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Cypress Creek has given up an average of 40.4 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Cypress Creek took a blow against Memorial, falling 49-21. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 696th, while the Mustangs are ranked 158th).

Meanwhile, Cy-Fair's game on Saturday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Stratford, sneaking past 31-28. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Cypress Creek better focus on containing Sean Riegler and Arnell Fontenot as the pair were huge in Cy-Fair's win. Riegler threw for 328 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, while Fontenot rushed for 120 yards and one score. Fontenot has become a key player for Cy-Fair: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Henry Lamar Brooks Jr did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards.

Cy-Fair's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Cypress Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Cypress Creek was taken down by Cy-Fair 38-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
