Yates (Houston, Texas) captured a mythical national title last season and became the highest-scoring team in high school basketball history in the process.

Despite losing 11 seniors from a group that won back-to-back Class 4A state titles, the Lions opened their 2010-11 campaign Tuesday night by thrashing Dickson, 128-65, to record their 59th win in a row.

"With all the new faces we have, I thought for a first game it was pretty good," Yates head coach Greg Wise told Sam Khan Jr. of the Houston Chronicle. "We lost a lot of guys who were running our press for two or three years. I think by midseason, we'll be hitting on all cylinders."

Junior Damyeon Dotson led the scoring charge with 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Senior Shai Fields, a transfer from Pearland committed to Weber State, added 19 while junior Clyde Santee, one of the program's few holdovers, scored 15.
