The Goreville Blackcats will head out on the road to  face off against  the Trico Pioneers  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Goreville is coming into the  matchup on  a  four-game losing streak.
On Monday, Goreville didn't have quite enough to beat Johnston City and fell  4-3.
  Ellie Tripp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.
Meanwhile,  after only one  run in their last  game, Trico made sure to put some  runs up on the board against Steeleville  on Monday. The Pioneers were the clear victors by  a  13-2 margin over the Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won four contests by ten  runs or more  so far this season.
 Zoe Bennett looked comfortable as she  tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. She also  tossed two  walks, marking her first of the season.
 At the plate,  Whitney Lovel was  incredible,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  double. That's the most  runs  she has posted since back in April of 2024.  Hayleigh Franklin was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  run.
 Trico was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steeleville only posted a  batting average of  .227.
 Goreville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Trico, their victory  ended  a  six-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 4-6.
Trico's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  Goreville has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .443. It's a different story for Trico, though, as  they've  only  averaged .364. Will they be able to contain Goreville's hitters?
 Goreville couldn't quite finish off Trico in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024 and fell  2-0. Can the Blackcats avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
