Basketball Recap: Pomona Comes Up Short

Pomona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 67-22 loss at the hands of the Monrovia Wildcats. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-13.

Despite the defeat, Pomona saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Destin Tilman almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Tilman is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game.

Pomona's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Monrovia, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0.

Pomona and Baldwin Park will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monrovia, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Riverside Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Silver Knights have now posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
