Football Recap: Airport Eagles vs. Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins
Airport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2017.
Derrick Thomas was a one-man wrecking crew for Orangeburg-Wilkinson as he rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Brenden Peoples, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Airport's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Airport will look to defend their home field on Friday against Westwood at 7:30 p.m. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, they will face off against Edisto at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
