Football Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Santa Paula Cardinals

The Fillmore Flashes are taking a road trip to square off against the Santa Paula Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fillmore took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Dos Pueblos by a score of 24-17. The Flashes pushed the score to 24-3 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers cut but never quite recovered from.

Jasiah Patterson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 204 yards and one score while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Those 204 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Alamillo, who rushed for 38 yards.

Meanwhile, Santa Paula had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 27-16 victory over Hueneme on Friday.

Fillmore better keep an eye on Sebastian Alcantar. He was instrumental in Santa Paula's win, rushing for 150 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Alcantar has become a key player for the Cardinals: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 2-4 otherwise. Abraham Flores got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Santa Paula was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 234 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Fillmore's record is now 8-1. As for Santa Paula, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Fillmore suffered a grim 31-7 defeat to Santa Paula in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Flashes, Allen Macias (who rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
