East falls despite strong effort from Jussean Pearsall

The East Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of International Prep at Grover by a score of 54-52. East was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as International Prep at Grover apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

When it comes to explaining why East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jussean Pearsall. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Pearsall hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Casillas, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

East dropped their record down to 4-12 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for International Prep at Grover, their victory bumped their record up to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East will take on Health Sciences Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Health Sciences Charter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 616 points over their last eight games. As for International Prep at Grover, they will head out on the road to challenge North Collins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
