Softball Recap: Sullivan County Griffins vs. Millville Quakers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northwest Area, Sullivan County was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Millville Quakers with a sharp 24-3 win. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Quakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Emilia Viveiros was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sullivan County got a massive performance out of Kayla Fowler, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Miley Dickinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Sullivan County's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Millville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sullivan County will venture away from home to face off against Wellsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Millville, they will head out to take on Bloomsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
