Basketball Game Preview: Ankeny Hawks vs. Ankeny Centennial Jaguars

The Ankeny Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Ankeny Centennial Jaguars at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Ankeny Centennial took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ankeny, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ankeny beat Linn-Mar 61-55. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Lions are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Ankeny Centennial lost to Johnston at home by a 52-37 margin on Friday. The contest marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Ankeny Centennial's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-5. As for Ankeny, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Ankeny was able to grind out a solid victory over Ankeny Centennial in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 58-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ankeny since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
