Basketball Game Preview: High Island Cardinals vs. Hull-Daisetta Bobcats

High Island is 0-5 against Hull-Daisetta since November of 2018 but things could change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the High Island Cardinals duke it out with the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Neither High Island nor Hull-Daisetta posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

High Island is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Tuesday. They took a 46-29 bruising from Chester.

The losing side was boosted by Cam'Ron Medina, who posted 14 points. That was a full 48.3% of High Island's points, marking the 17th time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Jacoby Kent was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Hull-Daisetta unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Brookeland 117-26. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 68-12.

Hull-Daisetta's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7. As for High Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

High Island ended up a good deal behind Hull-Daisetta when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 54-35. Can High Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
