Softball Game Preview: Wabash Apaches vs. Northfield Norsemen

Wabash is 2-8 against Northfield since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Apaches will take on the Norsemen at 5:30 p.m. Neither Wabash nor Northfield posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Wabash came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Bluffton by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The Apaches have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wabash saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlynn Honeycutt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Northfield fell victim to Eastbrook and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Panthers. The loss continues a trend for the Norsemen in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Wabash's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Northfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Wabash took their victory against Northfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
