Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Range Mustangs vs. Horizon Hawks

The Mountain Range Mustangs will challenge the Horizon Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mountain Range has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mountain Range couldn't beat Riverdale Ridge on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Mustangs came up short against the Ravens, falling 14-4. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Ravens: they've now lost four in a row.

Mountain Range saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Watt, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Noah Espinoza, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Horizon never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Longmont. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Horizon got a massive performance out of Chayce Hansen, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Hansen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Faimon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Horizon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Mountain Range, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
