After flying high against Dunnellon last Friday, Newberry came back down to earth. The Newberry Panthers wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 last Monday.

Newberry got a good showing from Nathan Arnold, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Arnold has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Tavis Honeycutt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
