Baseball Recap: Etna Comes Up Short

Etna was the 9-1 winner over Mt. Shasta when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly five runs.

Noah Hubbard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Oliver Griggs was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Etna's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Mt. Shasta, their record now sits at 9-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bears beat Etna by a score of 2-1 later that day.
