Softball Recap: Potlatch Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Potlatch had won seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 7-0 to make it eight. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Genesee Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Loggers have posted against the Bulldogs since May 2, 2023.

Potlatch got a great performance from Brieanna Winther as she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Jaida Andres was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Andres is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Kylie Heitstuman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

Potlatch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

As for Genesee, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-2 record. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this match were averaging 3.64 runs allowed.

On Genesee's side, Sydney Banks made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylie Baysinger, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Potlatch will take on Bonners Ferry at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Loggers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Badgers have averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season. As for Genesee, they will challenge Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
