Football Game Preview: Central Hinds Academy Cougars vs. Columbia Academy Cougars

Central Hinds Academy will head out on the road to challenge Columbia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Central Hinds Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 40 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Brookhaven Academy on Friday. They took a hard 29-12 fall against Brookhaven Academy.

The losing side was boosted by Jay Shuff, who rushed for 117 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Columbia Academy faced off against Silliman Institute on Friday. The Cougars lost to the Wildcats on the road by a 34-19 margin. The Cougars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Although Columbia Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Logan Buckley, Carter Fortenberry, and Bentley Myers.

Columbia Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cooper Powell and Fortenberry. Fortenberry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Central Hinds Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Columbia Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Central Hinds Academy came up short against Columbia Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 27-21. Can Central Hinds Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
