Phoenix Academy posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2023 on Wednesday. They blew past the Triad Math and Science Academy Bengals 66-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Firebirds.

Phoenix Academy found their leader in sophomore Chayse Gallo, who went 9 of 19 en route to 27 points and four steals. Ervin Montgomery was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points.

Phoenix Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 6.1.

Phoenix Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Triad Math and Science Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix Academy will head out to challenge Cornerstone Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Charles Walker and Gallo. Triad Math and Science Academy has already played their next match (against Leadership Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
