Football Recap: Yorba Linda's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Yorba Linda strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the San Jacinto Tigers by a score of 31-21. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Tigers are ranked 69th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yorba Linda's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Gutierrez, who rushed for 98 yards, and also caught one TD. That's the most rushing yards Gutierrez has posted since back in October of 2024. Another receiver making a difference was Troy Roberts, who picked up 82 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Yorba Linda didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited San Jacinto to a completion percentage of just 41.2%. The Mustangs weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Yorba Linda didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Isaiah Trujillo and Andrew Maldonado. Trujillo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although San Jacinto took the loss, they still got scores from KINGSLEE TIVAO, JOMINI RANSOM, and KINGSTON TIVAO.

Yorba Linda's record is now 3-0. As for San Jacinto, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Yorba Linda has already played their next matchup, a 35-7 win against Esperanza on the 12th. As for San Jacinto, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-11 victory against Rancho Verde on the 12th.
