Recap: Davis Blue Devils vs. Del Oro Golden Eagles

After a string of three wins, the Davis Blue Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Del Oro. While losing is never fun, Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 609th, while Del Oro is ranked 43rd).

Davis lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jadyn Coaker, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Alden Mccabe, who scored 14 points.

Even though they lost, Davis were working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jake Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds for Del Oro. Williams also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Caden Pinnick was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven assists.

Davis' loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Del Oro, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Davis will head out on the road to face off against Vacaville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Vacaville is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Del Oro will be home for the holidays to greet Woodcreek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Woodcreek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
