Softball Recap: Warwick Beats Washingtonville for Their Sixth Straight Win

Warwick had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Washingtonville on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Wizards 13-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won six matches in a row.

Olivia Martino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Etta Garofalo was incredible, firing off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Camryn Moore also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Warwick hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Warwick's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Washingtonville, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warwick will venture away from home to square off against Middletown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Washingtonville, they will head out to face off against Minisink Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
