Football Game Preview: South Mecklenburg Sabres vs. Myers Park Mustangs + Official Tickets

The South Mecklenburg Sabres will challenge the Myers Park Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Mecklenburg will be strutting in after a win while Myers Park will be coming in after a loss.

South Mecklenburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Garinger 63-6. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Sabres considering their ten-point performance the game before.

South Mecklenburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Callaway Williams, Amir Gillispie, and Mason Varnes picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Myers Park faced Hough in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs lost 28-6 to the Huskies. The Mustangs were red-hot offensively heading into the matchup (they scored no less than 31 points in the three contests prior), but the Huskies' defense proved too tough.

South Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Myers Park, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

South Mecklenburg skirted past Myers Park 21-18 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Will the Sabres repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
