Basketball Recap: Noah Cardon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mountain Crest over Ridgeline

Mountain Crest fought the good fight in their overtime game against Ridgeline on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 73-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ridgeline Riverhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 51-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Cardon, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 23 points and three steals. Those 23 points gave Cardon a new career-high. Jackson Branz was another key player, going 7 of 15 en route to 18 points.

Dawson Low continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ridgeline, going 5 for 8 on his way to 18 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Low's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Jackman, who went 6 of 10 en route to 18 points.

Mountain Crest has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Ridgeline, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Mountain Crest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-34 victory against West Field on the 21st. Ridgeline has also already played their next game, a 58-48 win against Sky View on the 17th.
