Basketball Recap: Paola Almeida's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Box Elder over Northridge

While it was all tied up 16-16 at halftime, Box Elder was not quite Northridge's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northridge Knights. The Bees just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Box Elder's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paola Almeida, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Almeida is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Brooklyn Burt was another key player, putting up seven points along with five assists and five boards.

Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Northridge, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Box Elder will take on Bonneville at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Box Elder is facing Bonneville at the right time seeing as Bonneville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Northridge, they will square off against Viewmont at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
