Baseball Game Preview: Fishers Tigers vs. Mt. Vernon Marauders

Fishers is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Mt. Vernon is on a nine-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will welcome the Marauders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Friday, Fishers had just enough and edged out Zionsville 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Tigers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Hayden Werner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Fishers saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jase Ruggles, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was Ruggles' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Delta 7-5.

The team relied heavily on Gage Blanchard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryndan Wylie, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Fishers, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
