For the second straight game, Bonita will face off against Ayala. The Bearcats will head out to face off against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bonita's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Ayala's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ayala hit Bonita with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bearcats fell 7-4 to the Bulldogs. While the Bearcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 4-0 in the first period.
For Ayala's part, Caleb Trugman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Trugman has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Isaac Huver looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Aidan Erlandsen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jaden Valenzuela was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Ayala kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Ayala's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Bonita, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
