Baseball Game Preview: Mills Vikings vs. San Mateo Bearcats

The Mills Vikings will face off against the San Mateo Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mills fell victim to Menlo School and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Mills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, San Mateo can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Everything went their way against Lowell as they made off with a 9-1 win. The Bearcats not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 5th (when they won 9-1).

The team relied heavily on Hudson Brandt, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayato Nishiyama, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

San Mateo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got San Mateo back to even at 10-10. As for Mills, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Mills suffered a grim 20-6 defeat to San Mateo in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
